The Latimer Legacy is one documentary film with two interconnected stories, each running for sixty minutes.  The Latimer Legacy weaves a compelling narrative across two pivotal periods in American history, exploring the lives of George and Lewis Latimer. Part one unfolds as George escapes enslavement, sparking a nationwide upheaval and catalyzing the abolitionist movement. His wrongful imprisonment becomes a rallying cry for justice, setting the stage for pivotal legislative changes. In part two, Lewis Latimer, George’s son, emerges as a groundbreaking yet unsung inventor in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Battling racial prejudice, Lewis collaborates with renowned white inventors, contributing significantly to technological advancements. However, his achievements are overshadowed, mirroring the systemic racism prevalent in society. The film captures the Latimer family’s emotional journey, unveiling hidden artifacts and reflecting on their enduring legacy, challenging audiences to confront the untold stories that shaped modern America.
